Worldwide sharks are being exterminated at an alarming rate and it’s time to use whatever means available to halt the senseless massacre. Next to law enforcement, education can give a well-needed contribution on this conservation issue.

The Cove is the Critics Choice The Cove directed by Louie Psihoyos has won the Best Documentary Feature Award at the Critics Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The film about the slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan features interviews with Sea Shepherd President and Founder Captain Paul Watson as well as footage of Sea Shepherd crewmembers Allison Lance and Alex Cornelissen releasing dolphins from the nets at Taiji. The Cove won out over four other nominees including Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Sea Shepherd Improves Radio Communications in Galapagos After several months of installing repeaters and programming and adjusting radios, Sea Shepherd Galapagos has officially handed over a large amount of radio communication equipment to the National Police in Galapagos. This donation of 110 mobile radios, repeater stations, car radios, and adjoining infrastructure will be largely sufficient to supply the entire police force in the Galapagos. We are pleased to say that good communication on each island as well as inter island communication is now possible through radios.

Third Phase of the K9 Project in the Galapagos Completed The construction of the dog kennel on Isabela Island has been completed and the guides and dogs have been transported to the island. The dogs will commence their inspection on Isabela, which has the highest level of poaching in the Galapagos, in an effort to reduce crime there.
