After weeks of searching, the Sea Shepherds finally spot a Japanese whaling ship, the harpoon vessel Yushin Maru #2. Captain Paul Watson devises a dangerous plan for two of his crew members to board the vessel and deliver a letter telling them to stop the killing of whales. He hopes to create an international incident, but his plan sparks a safety debate that divides the crew. Two volunteers enlist for the mission — Ben Potts and Giles Lane — and the crew braces for the worst as the men jump over the railing of the enemy ship. They are immediately tied up by the Japanese fishermen, and the Yushin speeds away with the two Shepherds still aboard.

You people especially Captain Watson are a joke. Having been involved in fisheries management for 20 years and being a commercial fisherman for 40 years fishing from the bering sea to Antartica I find your actions irresponsible. Watson puts a bunch of wannabe sailers at risk for nothing more than headlines. You people whine when the Japanese throw crap at you and cry foul while your actions jeapordize the Japanese fisherman everytime you play your games. And your actions have little to no effect. You waste money from contributors while if you had it together you’d use your money in more productive ways other than putting your crew at risk. You have no business in the ocean and much less attacking fishermen. Yea I know, I’m the bastard commercial fisherman, but I’ve done more for fisheries management and elimanating shark finning than you folks will do in 10 seasons on TV. But I guess we each have our priorities and your’s is evidently sensationalizing a serious situation for the sake of ratings and getting NGO and contributors money. What is Captain Watson going to say when one of his wannebe crew members get seriously hurt or killed. Oh yea, that’s probably great for a 2 hour special. Taking that boat into an ice field is a clear indication that ratings are more important that crew safety.

I’m with fisherman Bob on this one, it’s just rediculous to think that what Paul is doing is actually rightus. I my self have been exposed to fishing since a very young age, and granted it may not be preety, but it is a necessary part of living in the world we live in today. Weither you except it or not, for something to live, it must eat one thing in order to expell another, a.k.a. equivilant exchange. If you want an efective solution, then just go to the source of the problem of your whale delema, and no I’m not talking about the actual ships, I mean the companies that buy the meat and the people that in turn buy it. If you can’t win a simple civilized debate in a mono e mono type of setting, then you have no wright to be spewing this crap about the life of one whale being worth the combined lives of everyone on your vessel and that of the people you’re at “war” with.

I am so proud of all the people helping the whales. I find it heartbreaking that people will go out and kill these animals. Thank you for doing what you do. You all are AMAZING people.
