Watching the death of the Minky was akin to walking into my bedroom on Father’s Day 09, seeing my 56 year old husband not breathing and trying to resuscitate him for 40 minutes. The entire time knowing helplessly that there was nothing I could do but pound his chest and breathe for him. You watched the Minky leave us as I did Ken. He is gone as is another precious member of our Earth, the Minky. Each member of our society is responsible for the leaders that are elected and appointed. We cannot bring someone from death to life, but we can prevent more death by not standing helplessly by and allow people to exploit international edicts and laws. We DO have a voice in this. Waht the Sea Shepherd and Bob Barker do is active and only few are out there on the water. We need not stand by. The pounding should be on the doors of the whaling commission and the elected officials that rule teach and every coutnry who cares enough to love our Earth and every created entity that brings it beauty. Six months before his sudden death, Ken was allowed to watch the breach of a blue whale of Monterey for the first time in his life. It was truly a moving moment and one that enriched his life immensely. I comfort myself that the sea creatures he so loved brought him so much joy. Can I join you?

I am a Cadet at a Maritime Academy and I must say that it’s very difficult to call Watson a “Captain”. A Captain knows his ship, knows the waters he sails and knows the capabilities of his crew. Watson is only interested in his ratings and his feeble agenda.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the killing of whales is horrible and has little to no scientific value for the Japanese. My problem is that the entire “crew” of the Sea Shepherd looks and acts like a bunch of drunk apes trying to do something inappropriate to a football.

I’m with fisherman Bob on this one, it’s just rediculous to think that what Paul is doing is actually rightus. I my self have been exposed to fishing since a very young age, and granted it may not be preety, but it is a necessary part of living in the world we live in today. Weither you except it or not, for something to live, it must eat one thing in order to expell another, a.k.a. equivilant exchange. If you want an efective solution, then just go to the source of the problem of your whale delema, and no I’m not talking about the actual ships, I mean the companies that buy the meat and the people that in turn buy it. If you can’t win a simple civilized debate in a mono e mono type of setting, then you have no wright to be spewing this crap about the life of one whale being worth the combined lives of everyone on your vessel and that of the people you’re at “war” with.

Greenpower, what about ‘ illegal Japanese whaling operations’ do you not understand. It is illegal. Stuff Global Warming, we did that to ourselves. Oh and by the way we are trying to stop poaching in Africa, I know, I live there.

I think the Sea Sheppard’s crew consists of unqualified hippies who shouldn’t be allowed to run a ship that size. If you watch the show they are so inept on the ocean BUT THEY SAVED WHALES and made the whaling season a financial failure and I’m very pleased to see that. Even though the crew if obviously not trained for safe deck and boating procedures they still made a difference for the whales and that is great. Way to go dumb asses! You showed that even though that crew is an embarrassment to qualified sailors around the world they still are making a difference to the lives of whales. Koo dos to them. It gives hope for all under qualified people of below average intelligence to show that efforts equals results. Conviction over common sense has been a proven strategy. Peace
